Howdy everyone,
Just a quick update for those following the project.
I’m happy to share that Frogman is now a signed FreePBX module and can be installed while maintaining module signature validation within FreePBX.
For those unfamiliar with Frogman, it’s an experimental Open Source project focused on bringing modern AI and automation workflows directly into FreePBX. Current capabilities include:
Chat-based administration from within the GUI
MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration
API-driven interactions with FreePBX
Natural language system management
A foundation for headless and agent-driven PBX operations
The goal is not to replace the existing GUI, but to explore what the next generation of PBX management might look like when AI, APIs, and automation become first-class citizens.

How do you try Frogman ? I can’t see any module by that name in Module Admin page.

I just installed the module to try it out and it’s saying it isn’t signed. I refreshed signatures but no dice.

Your keyring is missing my key… The FreePBX master key is fine, so it’s just that one key that didn’t get fetched at install.
Fix:
sudo -u asterisk gpg --homedir /home/asterisk/.gnupg \
--keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 021979A8A1002442
fwconsole ma refreshsignatures
fwconsole ma list | grep frogman
If --recv-keys errors, swap in --keyserver hkps://keys.openpgp.org (runs over 443).
Restapps entries are unrelated. (WAN bots probing?) Worth firewalling to LAN/VPN and running fail2ban on it, but nothing in those lines indicates you’ve been pwned.

I installed the key and now running refreshsignatures doesnt throw an error, but the dashboard still shows it’s signed by an invalid key, and module admin highlights it in red.

@drracing07 side note - while frogman was signed at 2.0, you’re currently quite a few versions behind. Installing the new version will force freePBX to reverify the signatures against the fixed keyring. This should clear the cached “invalid”

Refresh the signatures, fwconsole reload, and hard refresh on the browser should do it. You’ll also pick up quite a few new features.

This isn’t the way it’s supposed to work. The developer gets his/her key signed by the FreePBX master key and by way of trusting the master key (which drracing07 has on hand) your signed module is also trusted.
I wondered while reading this thread if you’re seeing the same issue @BlazeStudios and I saw with modules alerting about signatures in v17, even when signed.

I’m up and running now after that. What’s kinda weird is I did update by downloading the tar and uploading through the web interface, but still showed the error, even after refreshing signatures and reloading. Doing the same but through fwconsole worked.

Like @drracing07 , I uninstalled and removed the module before adding again by downloading directly from the repo. I will add the key as suggested.
Talking about the key, does @billsimon suggestion still hold? This isn’t a prod instance and runs exclusively on my LAN so no risk of bots probing (I hope Lol)
