Also, during this time, you should expect our focus to continue to be on critical security issues as the number one concern, but otherwise, it’s full-steam ahead on FreePBX 18.
In light of the continued ai fueled security issue pressure this year, we’re now planning to assemble a v18ALPHA release in September 2026 (next month) and hold off on the v18BETA until November 2026. The calendar referenced in the FreePBX Versions topic is being updated accordingly.
Volunteers wishing to assist in open source module development upgrade efforts in release/18.0 branches are encouraged to review existing work in alphabetical order – we are currently around modules starting with the letter ‘e’ – but take on new work in reverse alphabetical order.
The tone of these posts is, as the kids say, cringe (or, as I say, inauthentic and off-putting.)
Anyway… there was a post just a month prior soliciting ideas for v18, but now the alpha release is less than a month away? Presumably features are locked in at this point, is there a list of what’s new?
