Cisco Phone Paging & Intercom

Hello.
I have setup a FreePBX system with chan-sccp. All the phones are Cisco 7945 and 7965 using SCCP firmware. As some may know, making intercom and paging work is very hard with these phones. Using the advise from: https://community.freepbx.org/t/sccp-cisco-phone-paging-intercom/3503

I setup a second extension for each phone that was dedicated for intercom & paging. That works great, but it would be ideal if a second extension wasn’t needed.
I think I have a solution for this and would like some feedback and pointers on where to start… What if - When an page or intercom extension is dialed, before anything else is done, a script runs:

database put DEVICE/(PHONE-EXT-HERE)/autoanswer macro sccp-autoanswer

for each extension in the page/intercom group. Then at hangup, it runs through each extension again and removes auto answer.

Is there an underlying method for interacting with the database?..Getting a hangup signal, etc…

Just to be clear, I did try every other method of getting paging/intercom working - no other option worked.

Thank you for your help!

It is for all these reasons and more that although of great build and audio quality they are just not a good fit with FreePBX (which is why they are incredibly cheap). On the other hand, Cisco’s UCM for which they were designed is very far from cheap but these phones work great.

Look through the fora here and you will get the vibe about Cisco, regretfully, you will find fewer and fewer folks able to help you as time goes by because SCCP or skinny channel drivers are not well maintained.

Maybe set your time clock to zero and count the hours at the rate you charge to see your real cost.

Right… Long past that. We use Cisco phones. So, any help on my question would be helpful. Thanks everyone.
