Changing the voicemail email FROM address?

I missed this reply earlier. I gave that a try and received hundreds of lines of results, the majority of which seem to have nothing to do with e-mail.

No change. Everything is still being sent from asterisk@

This is what is at the end of my /etc/postfix/generic file

root [email protected]
root@localhost [email protected]
[email protected] [email protected]
root@freepbx [email protected]
[email protected] [email protected]
asterisk [email protected]
asterisk@localhost [email protected]
[email protected] [email protected]
asterisk@freepbx [email protected]
[email protected] [email protected]
vm@asterisk [email protected]
asterisk@ [email protected]
@freepbx.localdomain @ctwautomation.com
smtp_generic_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/generic
[email protected] [email protected]
[email protected] [email protected]

This should be in the main conf file not the generic file.

I have moved that line to my ā€œgenericā€ file. (The file was previously empty.) The e-mails are still being bounced.

Did you find a solution to this? Iā€™m having the same issue with Office365 emails being rejected and have tried everything in this post and then some. Still getting emails sending out as asterisk@ instead of the proper email address.

If you are using postfix, then often the easy fix is to alias the email address to the wanted one in /etc/aliases (then run newaliases)

asterisk: [email protected]

Anyone ever get a solution to this? I am having exact same issue on my 15 system. FPBX 15.0.16.38 and Asterisk 13.27.1.

Correct address is setup in email setup, and in voicemail config. It exists correctly in the /etc/asterisk/voicemail.conf file. Iā€™ve tried adding aliases in both /etc/postfix/generic and in /etc/aliases.

In the SMTP dump, it keeps showing itā€™s trying to send with ā€œasterisk@fqdnā€ and not the address configured to be used, which is subsequently getting bounced by O365 SMTP as asterisk@ isnā€™t an allowed send-as for the email account being authenticated with. I could add asterisk@ with send-as permission, but thatā€™s a bandaid for the root problem here that Iā€™d like to get sorted.

I have dozens of other systems out there all working correctly. I am unclear what the difference is on mine, OTHER than I am on 15. All other notices from FPBX itself go out properly with the correct from address, itā€™s ONLY voicemail that is still trying to use ā€œasterisk@fqdnā€ as itā€™s from address.

I found the solution.

For whatever reason, in the /etc/postfix/main.cf, the entry for ā€œsmtp_generic_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/genericā€ was missing. So even though I had the mappings built out, they were not being used.

I added that entry into main.cf and all the mappings started working properly and the problem is now resolved.
