Time zone discrepancy

Good day,

Noticed that with our province’s recent change to “Alberta Time” our PBX seems to have not picked up on the change. The system tzdata package is up to date and Debian is showing the correct CST time zone, but the FreePBX system admin (and CDRs and so on) is insisting that America/Edmonton is still in MST.

Have given it a few reboots already, which did not seem to help any…

Are you using timesyncd or chrony?

If timesyncd, what server do you currently have in:

/etc/systemd/timesyncd.conf

Maybe try an alternate like time.google.com

Nothing in that file (it is all commented out)

It appears we’re using chrony pointed at the pool. Honestly it is set up however a clean debian install would be, we did not modify it anything to do with time.

Changing the FreePBX time zone to America/Regina at least gets it to agree with the system time, but it is behaving like FreePBX has its own copy of tzdata separate from the system.

All common time synchronisation software works purely in UTC. It is a function of the system libraries or user code to convert to local time.
