This FreePBX 17, ISO Install Is Not Working on Hyper-V

I am wanting to start to experiment with the FreePBX 17 on Debian to be prepared for when it comes out of Beta.

I have tried the UPG install and then the PUB install. They both did the same thing. I am doing this on a Dell 2950 Using Hyper-V under Win 11. It works with my other 4 FreePBX Servers (They have been running on it for a while)

It seems to install then comes up in a reboot loop.

I login and run the command to disable the reboot loop

It reboots one more time, then I login and get the IP assigned by dhcp for now

I go the web browser and type it in, and get the Apache default page.

Any help would be appreciated. It is probably something I am doing wrong. I have always been a RedHat Guy since 1999, so the Debian stuff is new to me, but I can tell they are working really hard a FreePBX to get it going.

How about FOG ? You kind of have a low-level cloud on your hands there… :cloud:

Drive space is at least 30G ?

Can you ping out ? DNS is working ?

ping -c 5 freepbx.org

From the shell prompt, are you able to run the v17 installer ?

sudo sh /var/tmp/sng_freepbx_debian_install.sh

Maybe post into pastebin.freepbx.org the contents of /var/log/pbx/freepbx17-install-*.log ?

I can ping freepbx.org successfully.

I ran the install script again and go this

script run result

Here is the one line log file from it

script log

Here is the end of the original log file that is complaining at the end of the log that there is no valid OpenPGP data found

I would say that one is the problem, but I really don’t know how/why to fix it.

I started with 40 GB, then did 80GB, and this last one I just took the default 127GB when I made the virtual machine.

I haven’t tried FOG. I just have 4 systems for my 4 locations, it is not really a cloud. I will try installing FOG and see if it make a difference. I could try another hypervisor, but we are looking at converting everything to Hyper-V this year, so I don’t think another hypervisor is going to go over well with the network team, but I would be a good test.

My bad - bash not sh:

sudo bash /var/tmp/sng_freepbx_debian_install.sh

ok. This debian script stuff is new to me. I just su to root and and do a /var/tmp… on centos. All this sudo stuff is new to me. I just have learned what I need to learn over they years for redhat, centos, and now rocky. I will get it al eventually. I already wiped it and am trying FOG now.

I had the same problem on FOG.

I watched and didn’t try to log in the first time it ran the script. And I saw this before the first reboot. It does not show it on subsequent reboots.

The web filter is 10.1.1.7 and it is blocking deb.freepbx.org

I brought it up in a web browser and got the following

I have emailed our Web Filter God and will have him add it to the allowed list and try again.

I will report back.

It is working after having the web filter guy get that website unblocked, it continued for a good 5-10 minutes through a very long scripts. Then rebooted and it did no reboot after that!

I backed up one of my existing systems and did a restore to it, and now have one of my branches running FreePBX 17 Beta.

My BLF’s between systems also still works! With the Free PBX Systems. I had a heck of a time setting this up the first time in 16!

Tom M is a user on 17 calling into a phone on a 16 system, and you can see he turns red because he has his phone in use!
