At specific link found on the community page, there is mention of SMS Connector, with instructions to download and install.
I followed the instructions, but only managed to get one was SMS to function for a short time. It was before I even tried to resolve that issue, that I noticed PBXACt reporting that the module SMS Connector was “Unsigned” and I need to download and install again, which I did-two more times.
I still get this error about “Files being tampered” and that I need to download and reinstall it again.
Is therre something I am missing? Or, maybe an alternative module that will allow the support of SMS/MMS?
If you want a signed module, you will need to find and buy a commercial one. The one you are referencing is third party code, so wouldn’t be signed by Sangoma, and, if it were signed, you’d still be trusting the same repository for the signing verification key, for the initial download, although you would know that updates came from the same place.
A quick search suggests that Sangoma only provide SMS support with one provider.
That’s our (Simon Telephonics) module, and it is signed, and behaves correctly on FreePBX 16 but throws that tampered warning on FreePBX 17. However if you look at the module in Module Admin, it will show as valid and signed.
As an open source project it has been stable for quite a while now. Hope it helps you. I plan to dig in on this tamper warning at some time to understand why 17 is alerting even though the signature is valid.
Feel free to direct-message me for support on your specific situation. I don’t have PBXact 17 but FreePBX 17 works exactly the same. Your module admin should show SMS Connector like this: (this is on a FreePBX 17 system)
Thanks for the time and attention you put into helping with this. It seems that, if using SIPStation, you don’t need an SMS connector, as it seems to be handled through the SIPStation module…at least that’s the way it looks so far.
That is true. The origin of SMS Connector was to connect third-parties to FreePBX/PBXact SMS system just as SIPStation does. SIPStation is a more refined experience because it’s end to end Sangoma, but many users were looking for SMS and MMS integration options for third-party providers.
