I have a weird issue. I have a customer that has an IVR option to forward the caller to an external phone system. The external phone system needs to be able to see the callers caller ID. If the outbound caller ID is set in the trunk settings the phone system forwards the number of the phone system and not the callers. If I remove the outbound caller ID in the trunk it works correctly, but then the employees can’t make outbound calls. I tried all kinds of things to get the caller ID to forward before getting it to work by removing the outbound caller ID. Is there a way to forward the incoming caller’s caller ID when forwarding calls without having to remove the outbound caller ID in the trunk?
The Set CallerID Module, should let you do this.
I suppose another consideration is what you are doing to forward the call from the IVR are you using a Misc. Destination? A ring group(has CID options)?
HI, try setting sendrpid=yes & P-Asserted-Identity and dont force caller id from trunk this should work and forward orginal caller number
I am using a misc destination to an external number. How would using a ring group even work? How would I transfer the call to an external number?
I did set the sendrpid to yes, but that didn’t do anything. I don’t know where that other setting is.
You can put an external number in a ring group and it will ring it, you just need to make sure there is a “#” at the end:
5055555555#
Where the extensions go? Oh I see it in the quick help. Wow, never knew that. I’ll give that a try. Thanks!
Nice, I hope it works out for you.
Set the outbound caller ID in the extension settings for each extension and remove it from the trunk.
Hi You have to go under trunks then go to advance setting of trunk you will see there send pai and sendrpid make sure to set correctly.
This is what I tried and I THINK it worked, but I haven’t heard back from the customer. If it works it’s fine for now because he only has 3 extensions, but as his business grows it might become a hassle to keep up with.
There’s Trust RPID/PAI and Send RPID/PAI. They are both set to No. I assume I set the Trust option to yes, but the other has 3 options. “Send Remote-Party-ID header”, “Send P-Asserted-Identity header”, or “Both”.
Hi yes exactly you have to select Send Remote-Party-ID Header and trust rpid=yes
Ok, I set Trust RPID/PAI to yes, Send RPID/PAI to “Both”. and “Send Private CallerID Information” to yes.
