Kernel panic at install from ISO

Installing on a Dell Optiplex 5070. Have tried from USB and DVD.

Have also tried:

  • Legacy boot instead of UEFI (both USB and DVD)
  • Changing SATA to RAID instead of AHCI
  • Disabling power management in BIOS.

All the same result.

ISO is SNG7-FPBX-64bit-2002-2.iso

Nix install issues are not my area of expertise.

Try ‘blanking out’ your ssd from a livecd boot first.

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/?? bs=1M

Good idea.

Used disk part and a clean because that was more readily available.

Same panic. AHCI and UEFI.

Also tried disabling the onboard wifi and bluetooth. No change.

Called Dell Pro Support. They pointed me to this:

and then threw their hands in the air: “It shipped with Ubuuntu. If that works and this doesn’t, we can’t help.”

I’ve conceded and bought $355 in support credits and opened a ticket.
