So something weird is happening. When I place the SEP MAC file I found online, it’s able to receive the SEP.xml file and try to register, but when I edit my configuration, the phone status replies with “error verifying config info,” restarts, and says unprovisioned. The phone status also replies with the same error and repeating the process. Can someone tell me what’s going on and how to stop this? This also started happening once I added a second Cisco 7961.
You have an XML error in your SEPMAC file for the second phone. There are a ton of SEPMAC files out on the Internet but people do not understand that depending on the firmware used on the phone, different keys may be required to get things to work.
Very badly messed up SEPMAC files will cause the phone to spit out an error, such as missing close > and so on. Run your SEPMAC though a XML syntax checker.
SEPMAC files with no syntax errors but missing keywords will just cause the phone to silently fail to register - or it will register but not all functions will work, etc.
Unless you have spent a ton of time staring at SEPMAC files you shouldn’t be editing them by hand you should use a provisioner to generate them. A good provisioner is here:
