IAX2 Trunk between 2 PBXes

Hi, I want to create an IAX2 trunk between 2 freepbx PBXes to call between offices, outbound call prefix would be 8X. so all numbers would be interpreted. If there is any other way to create intra office PBX that is NAT friendly I am open to suggestions. Any help apreciated. For now I have both servers on a local network so I can eliminate the need for port forwarding and that kind of stuff, I’ll figure that out later

I’ve been told, somewhere on here, that IAX is not really used anymore and to just use PJSIP trunks between PBX’s. Honestly we only have one installation that uses trunks between sites and they’ve been working with IAX for years so if it’s not broke we don’t fix it.
