I’m trying to understand why I can’t send outgoing calls on a trunk.
In order to provide more information I want to add a log entry in the dialplan and have tried to modify the dialplan by creating a modified version of tdial in extensions-custom.conf
When reloading the config I get errors saying that all the lines in the custom file are already defined.
How can I replace the existing definition with mine which just contains 1 new line with the log command?
You would have to edit it the additional file, accepting that it will revert when you do a FreePBX reload. You would have to use an Asterisk CLI diaplan reload, to put it into temporary effect.
I have tried to create the ext_trunk_custom.conf file and put my changes there so that my values are used first unfortunately my log command still doesn’t get executed
The additional one is the one created by FreePBX and is the one that defined it in the first place, If you edit it there, and reload, it should be handled no differently from when FreePBX modifies it.
Usually, you don’t need to set extensions-custom.conf. Or just if you need to add some custom dialplan. But for outbound calls, nothing to do here.
Sometime you can write a custom context here for a trunk (from-custom-trunk …Etc). but that’s it.
If you want to rewrite a context, the you can do it with (e.g : extensions_override_freepbx.conf) using the same context name.
