i have a few grandstream ht503 that i bought from USA via ebay.
i live in denmark and i am trying to connect them to a danish analog tone phone (kirk lady)
i have the ht503 registered onto an asterisk server.
the phone doesnt have a tone and the voice menu that the user guide tells about, is not happening. i have tried for days and with different combinations of phones and ht503.
Confirm that you are plugging the RJ11 into the HT Phone1 jack and not the Line jack.
If that’s not it, you probably have an electrical problem unrelated to settings.
When you take the phone off hook and refresh the Status page of the HT, does it show Off Hook?
When you press keys on the phone, do you hear tones?
If, as I suspect, the answers are both “no”, there is a hardware problem with the phone, cord/plug or HT.
Do you have a meter to check voltage between pins 3 and 4 (middle pins) of the Phone1 jack?
Can you short these pins together and see whether it shows Off Hook?
Can you connect a 9V battery to the 2 vertical pins of the phone plug? You should hear a click in the receiver and be able to press keys and hear the tones.
i can confirm i have plugged the phone into fxs port
when i tkae the phone off hook i get no tone nor do i get any changes to status page, still just “on-hook”
i have tried to connect a 9v to the phones two ports and got a working tonepads sounds
i have used a multimeter on the fxs port and have found no voltage on any combinations of the 4 leads.
i have shorted the two middle leeds and found it to still be on-hook
i have tried these steps with two 503’s same results
OK, so there is no “battery” on the FXS port.
I’m not specifically familiar with the 503, but many ATAs have a setting to remove battery, for example to connect to a paging amplifier, or to connect to a music source as a hold music server. Reset the unit to factory settings by holding the reset button in for 15 seconds and then letting it reboot when you release it. Confirm via the web page that the reset worked, then check if there is still no voltage on the FXS port.
Another possibility is a bad power module. Do you have another to try?
