FreePBX/Asterisk upgrade recommendations

Hello my company is using FreePBX 13 and am on Asterisk v11.20. It has been working very well in the last few years but we are experiencing some minor issues associated with Asterisk 11.20.

I would like to upgrade but not sure what I’m getting myself into as it looks rather complicated.
We are a small business with less than 20 phones. This system was setup by the IT guy that is no longer here. I’ve become somewhat familiar with basic functions like setting up new endpoints, etc. but I’m not sure I’m comfortable if something went wrong during an upgrade.

What upgrade path would you recommend?

If you are on the FreePBX Distro, maintenance scripts are all available here:

On any FreePBX distro, you can always change major asterisk versions:
