FreePBX 17 vs 16

,

I’m planning to install FreePBX in a new environment and in the past i’ve had really good experience with really old versions older than v16 where the CPU and memory usage has been practically non-existent that’s how low consumption it was. It’s been a while since I installed FreePBX and i noticed that v17 has completely switched to Debian based OS. My question is, is it worth installing v17 or do i apply the old is gold rule and stick to v16 or 15? I often experience that with updated systems as they become more modern they become more clunky and bloaty and resource intensive like cpu and memory. This is my biggest concern with v17.

Can anyone kindly confirm is v17 reliable and how resource hungry is it compared to older versions? Also, do the paid add-on’s work well and what about third part add-ons that were made to work with older versions?

Thank you.

I’m running my first instance of FreePBX since a couple of days and my experience is limited, but here are my figures (Debian 12, FreePBX 17, Asterisk 22, with 2 phones currently registered.

In my installation however, I had a faulty sangomartapi process that maxxed the CPU out to 100% until I removed it (see thread).

What is the sangomartapi process? Is it not needed? How’s it been since you disabled it?
