I have two phone numbers for FreePBX and the primary one is the default outgoing CID. I would like to set the other phone number as the outgoing CID of a Ring Group.
I have a Ring Group and I would like to set it so that if any member of the Ring Group (extension) makes an outgoing call, the other phone number will be displayed to the called party instead of the default outgoing CID.
I tried setting the Change External CID Configuration to Outside Calls Fixed Value in the Ring Group settings and entering the other phone number in the Fixed CID Value, but the default outgoing CID is still displayed to the called party when any part (extension) of the Ring Group calls.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to fix this?
You may need to re-explain what you are trying to achieve, as ring groups (for handling incoming calls) play no part in your attempts to pre-set the CallerID for outgoing calls, whether that’s set by the extension, the outbound route, or the trunk. Those are the 3 places you can set it and one can override another. Outbound calls made by extensions have nothing to do with ring groups. This becomes slightly muddled if an external number is part of the ring group and you are trying to control the CallerID presented to the recipient, but I don’t think that’s what you mean.

The members of the Ring Group are only logically connected to each other in the case of an incoming call, so the incoming call can be directed to it.
This does not apply to an outgoing call, because the extensions initiate the call.
I understand, so the default CID of the outgoing call must be overridden at the extensions.
What could be the solution in this case? The task would be the following.
One of the two phone numbers is directed to a Ring Group, its members ring when this number is called.
However, when making an outgoing call, the other number is the default outgoing CID, which is sent by FreePBX when any extension calls out.
I would like to achieve that when extensions in a Ring Group call out, FreePBX sends the outgoing CID that is directed to the Ring Group when the call comes in.
You can set the Route CID on the relevant Outbound Route(s) and set Override Extension to No. Then give an Outbound CID for those extensions in each Edit Extension. If you’re setting Outbound CallerID in the trunk then it will override all that, so don’t do it there, remove it and go back down a level to the Outbound Route.
If you want to take it further and treat those extensions differently to everything else, give them their own Outbound Route. Set it first in route by dragging it above all the others, and add each relevant extension number to each of the CallerID column boxes in Dial Patterns, one line per extension. That way you can also control the trunk those particular extensions will use for their outbound calling, if you can have more than one trunk.
Thanks, I understand now. Unfortunately, this is much more work than just rewriting the Outgoing CID of the given Extensions.
For the Outbound Route, each Extension would have to be assigned to each Dial Pattern scheme, which would be a lot of lines. The same procedure applies to a new extension.
I think I’ll stick with the Outgoing CID settings for the extensions.
