FreePBX 17 - Is it ok to turn off CEL Logging? almost 200k records per day

, ,

Is it safe / ok to disable the CEL logging in FreePBX 17? We are averaging almost 200k records per DAY in that table. We are using Digium / Sangoma phones. I assume the “Call Log” “Phone App” uses CDR data and not CEL table. Is there any significant disadvantage we would encounter or things that won’t work other than the CEL specific report if we turn it off?

We have over 400 endpoints, and many large ring groups that “ring all” when customers call. Also many call “queues”, etc.

Call event logging is very useful to detect issues in the call flow. I would rather have them delete more often if storage is the issue.

If there isn’t any negative impact by turning it off altogether, couldn’t I leave it off and only turn it on if I need that level of logging for debugging purposes?

When you visit the CEL page under reports, does it load or just crash?

Thank you for linking to this thread. After reading this, I decided to disable CEL reporting/logging and truncated the cel table. No issues so far.

I tried going to it before I started clearing out and then disabled the CEL logging, but the page just “hung”.
