Hi all,
I’m doing a fresh install of FreePBX 17. The install script seems to fail nearly immediately. Says: Installing software-properties-common … Then: Exiting script.
I checked the install log. From what I can make out something on the server side is missing in action. Exerpt from the log: “E: Unable to locate package software-properties-common”
Screenshots attached below.
AFAIK I’m following the instructions verbatim. Am I doing something wrong, or is the server on holiday?
Looks like maybe your /etc/apt/ source repository isn’t configured correctly or it needs to do apt-get update first, which I would assume the script is doing. Try install that package manually.
Thanks for responding to my post. Yup, you nailed it. Egg on my face… and lots of it. Why? I touted myself as “following the instructions verbatim™”… but… there’s no possible way that I could have followed the instructions verbatim because… one of them is missing. Insert animated gif of Homer Simpson in full facepalm here. D’Oh! During the install of Debian 12, between steps 16 and 17 is missing the step for enabling a network mirror. During the first install, I answered no because the prompt had referenced a machine with a gui… then I wrote off the differences in the remaining steps to a change in the install process on Debian’s part. Bad boy, Hammerhead! No cookie for you! Anyway, I didn’t have much time invested in the install so I just started over, selected YES to enable the mirror this time and everything came up rainbows and puppy dogs. Yay!
Anyway, the maintainers need to have visibility of the missing step in the Debian 12 install instructions. Might you know of how to get their attention on this?
