The FreePBX community forums will be migrating to new hardware on Saturday April 5, 2025, from 11am to 1pm Eastern. The forums will be down completely during this time as we backup the Discourse database and uploads, copy over the files, and then redirect load balancers to the new server instance. Please refer to the official documentation site (https://sangomakb.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FP/overview) and/or Sangoma support teams (https://help.sangoma.com) if you need immediate assistance with any FreePBX questions during this time. More information on the maintenance may also be found during this time at https://trust.sangoma.com
A test run has been done already, yes?
Yes, sir
The test runs on our new staging machine – that floats next to the new production machine in a somewhere – are about as close as one can get without interrupting current production.
Today’s test run report
All 450,584 posts are accounted for on staging from the most recent backup taken this morning on production.
Right now, we are up to 450,626 posts on production, which looks like 42 posts so far today, and that is of course the answer to this and many other questions .
Procedures
The latest migration test takes about 30 minutes, roughly following these instructions:
…with a few minor additions, such as synchronizing the uploads manually – and chown’ing them appropriately – before the restore is executed.
Anyhow, the data backup/restore procedures look good. But then there’s a few fuzzier finaglings to do with DNS & SSLs, mostly because the backend IP is changing and staging is walled off from the world (making LetsEncrypt more like LetsEncryptAnotherWay.)
Please do plan on logging in again 2025-04-05T17:00:00Z when we anticipate the
signal will be given!
