I recently installed FreePBX 17, I was used to being able to dial someone’s voicemail directly by putting an asterisk (*) in front of the extension. Like for extension 101 to dial the voicemail directly, you would dial *101. This was quite helpful for when callers wanted to leave a message for someone that the receptionist knew wasn’t there to pick up the phone.
Has this setting changed in 17 or am I just missing something?

Check the Feature Codes screen. *10 is the beginning of the feature code for speed dials, so you may need to disable or reassign that so that it doesn’t overlap with your extensions (10x).
I’ve checked this and the dial plans. I removed all mentions of *10 in the feature codes and checked on the phones for their dial plans. Dialing *101 just results in a cannot connect this call as dialed message.
Check the asterisk log. It will tell you what part of the dialplan serviced that call.
