Buggy old installation transfer settings to a new VM

,

Hello,

I’m new to FreePBX.

I have an old buggy VM running on FreePBX 13.0.95 and prepared a new one with FreePBX 17.0.25.

Caused to several unspecific failures I can’t migrate to the new instance.

I’ll have to transfer the setting “by hand”.

Is there a manual available (I don’t want to have a long downtime).

By activatin the new VM I also want to change to a VLAN. The Clients (most of them are SNOM-Phones, some Gigaset Devices are also in use) should get new IP-adresses an the FreePBX-Server will have also a new address. Is it possible to do a mass-change when the new instance is ready to use or will I have to configure each device?

Can anyone recommend a good softphone client?

I also would be very happy about a list of meaningful appointments.

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards

Norbert

Welcome to the forums!

v13 → v17 is quite a leap, but definitely doable!

One good entry point to documentation is the https://help.sangoma.com RAG AI.

You might be able to manipulate DHCP options e.g. 66, 150, etc., to automate more of the changes from one server to the other. If you are using commercial modules, then Endpoint Manager can help rebuild configs quickly for lots of different phone models in one centralized place. But some quirky/older devices might still need some separate logging in to.

Linphone is a pretty basic open source softphone on desktop (works great on Linux). Most of the really good soft phones that run on mobiles cost a small amount to use e.g. Sangoma Talk.
