Yum update and reboot causes kernel panic

On two or three different systems this/last week, we yum update and also update all modules and on the next reboot we get kernel panic. We can select the next kernel down on the list and it boots ok. We have updated about 40 systems so we’re kind of worried about rebooting any of them now. These are all VMware machines. I can get more details in the later. Anyone else seeing this?

I am running FreePBX 13 on VMware but haven’t updated anything lately. Typically I am pretty hesitant to update systems of this type, unless I’m missing some key functionality or bug fixes.

But this should be a painful lesson as to the importance of always having a test environment to run updates against. If it flies there then it should be okay to roll out into production. :frowning:
