Which Asterisk version is better for Ubuntu Noble + FreePBX 17?

Hi,
I am currently setting up an Asterisk + FreePBX solution. I have a question regarding this topic, as I will be using the Ubuntu LTS (Noble) operating system. I was planning to compile the latest version of Asterisk 22.5.2 LTS and install FreePBX 17. We also intend to switch to the PJSIP driver.
However, Asterisk 20.6.0 is available in the Ubuntu repository. Which version of Asterisk is better to use, and why?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi
I would recommend you to keep Asterisk 20.6.0 as its long support and stable release with freepbx 17 and also works well with PJSip too.

Something to be aware of is that Asterisk in the Ubuntu repositories is not produced/done by the Asterisk project. It can include patches and changes which are not present in Asterisk, or have been rejected/reverted.

I’m really using Ubuntu for anything, it’s my absolute favorite distribution.

But I see no sense to force FPBX to a not supported distribution. I’d recommend using the supported way.
