What does *nnn Feature code do and is it possible to Page Individual Extension

What does *nnn (nnn - three digit extension) do exactly? I dial the number and check the Asterisk log it shows the VMX macro and I hear the unavailable VM message.

I was hoping that the particular string, *nnn, would page individual extensions. Also is it possible to page individual extensions with the Page and Intercom module installed? Or do I need to create page group for each extension?

*nnn is exactly that t send the call to the voicemail of nnn. Paging depends on your hardware support

You can alter those feature codes in feature code admin.

Slight correction, you can change the paging feature codes in “feature code admin” for the VM_PREFIX you will need to edit the “general settings”
