Want to dial after a few seconds - Can't find DialNowTimeout

I’m using FreePBX 17.0.19.28 and I want my phones to dial after I enter some digits and pause for x seconds. All my searching has done is show me articles from 8 or 10 years ago directing me to configuration features that don’t exist in my version.

My phones are Digium D45, D50, and D70. Yeah, I know they’re old, but they’re what I have.

One article suggested updating the DialNow timeout item in the phone templates. Well, I found the phone templates, but there is no item anything like that inthe FreePBX GUI.

Really scratching my head here. In a past life, I worked on much older versions of FreePBX and solved this, but I can’t remember how.

Anyone there? No input? This is kind of a basic question and I’m just trying to fill in some gaps in my knowledge.

I know nothing about these phones, but the manual shows that you can specify timeouts within the digit map, so a DialNow function shouldn’t be necessary. See Sangoma Support

Also, if your numbering plan is well designed, the phone should dial immediately after the last digit is entered. Timeouts should be rarely needed, for example on international calls.

Unfortunately, many systems are set up where some valid numbers are a prefix of other valid numbers. For example, for a system in the US, 212 is an extension number and 2123456789 is a valid number in New York. To handle such cases, you might have a 4-second delay after dialing three digits, which is canceled if more digits are entered, then dialing immediately when the tenth digit is entered.
