Video Conferencing

FreePBX Distro: 4.211.64-7 (FreePBX 2.11, Centos 6.4 & Asterisk 11)

Hi Guys,

I was wondering how people usually go about Video Conferencing with Asterisk + FreePBX. Do people usually buy an MCU Media product/server? Do people install an open source MCU on their FreePBX box? Can FreePBX handle this natively? (I don’t think it can from what I have read)

Can people recommend what they do/do for their clients in this situation?

Many thanks,
Tarran

The Sangoma MCU is fully supported and certified with FreePBX, we have documentation here: http://wiki.freepbx.org/display/FCM/Sangoma+MCU+Module

And the units are available for purchase in the FreePBX store.

Thanks Preston, I’ll take a look.

Is the product you were talking about the Sangoma Vega MCU 8-port Video Conferencing Appliance? That is a lot more than we were looking to spend (~£5K). I’ll have to look around for a less expensive alternative. Thanks Preston though for pointing me in the right direction.

PS - I did look in initially in the FreePBX store but could not the device, only the module (but I probably didn’t look hard enough).

oh… my bad… (log in)… I can see it now.
