Asterisk, FreePBX, and voip via analog phones are very new to me. I’m looking for some guidance on a general direction to go in.
We had a 1970s era rotary dial phone hanging in our kitchen. I’ve long wanted to make it functional, so last month I purchased a Grandstream HT8701 analog telephone adapter and along with an VOIP account and number from voip.ms made it functional again. What fun!
Now I’ve got another vision. Our house is big. My son is on the 3rd floor, my daughter is on the 2nd floor and my newborn is also on the second floor. Yelling at the top of my lungs up the stairs to get their attention in their rooms is no longer ideal and often would wake the bambino. We’ve got a cheap wireless intercom system, but it stinks and I want something cooler.
Each kid has a Deco M5 wireless mesh node in their room that we can plug additional Grandview ATAs into. I’d like for each of them to have their own vintage analog phone in their room. I’d like for each of the analog phones plugged into the Grandview ATAs in the house to call each other with 3-digit extensions. I’d like for any of the phones to be able to dial ‘9’ and get an outside line via the voip.ms service.
Can I achieve this with freePBX? I’m in the information gathering and planning stages. Any help or guidance is appreciated.
