UPS detection and laptop

If i run FreePBX on a laptop, can the SysAdminPro UPS detection detect if I’m running on the battery?

I use a test server in a macosx laptop as a vm, and it detects my Apc.

Sorry, I meant will it detect running on the laptop’s battery as running on a UPS. Basically, I run my home PBX on a laptop. I want to be able to initiate an orderly shutdown in case of a power failure. I don’t have an external UPS.
