Upgrading incredible 2022-18-R to current FreePBX

Has anyone ever gone from Ward’s IncrediblePBX to straight FreePBX? Are there any hurdles I need to look out for? I can see on Ward’s wiki he is up to IncrediblePBX 2025. What I cannot find in any indication on how to upgrade to the most current version. This is one of the reasons I am looking to go back to straight FreePBX.

Any hints, tips, cautions would be GREATLY accepted!

Greg

IncrediblePBX does not support upgrade across platforms. You can upgrade your FreePBX on it. You can upgrade your Asterisk on it but if you change from CentOS or Rocky to Debian, you cannot. Also, any major upgrade of Asterisk or FreePBX should be made to the latest version of Debian supported. That is currently Debian-12 and PHP 8.2.

The recommended upgrade process for IncrediblePBX is to load the new version on another machine or VM. You must then update your FreePBX modules to the most current version for your old FreePBX version. Then you can take a FreePBX backup on the old system and import it to the new system. The FreePBX backup/restore does most of the heavy lifting for you on the new system. Changes made at the Linux level or to the firewall must be recreated on the new system.

I suspect you’d have to do the same on a Sangoma build of FreePBX in addition to having to create a FreePBX account and register your system.

Rocky Linux is not supported by either Sangoma or IncrediblePBX and both distros are now settled on Debian-12. IncrediblePBX-2025 can be run on some versions of Ubuntu but version 24.04 has introduced issues for some users.
