Upgrade 15 to 16

In this particular case I didn’t find any issues, just followed the following instructions and the upgrade went just fine:

1) fwconsole ma downloadinstall http://mirror1.freepbx.org/modules/packages/versionupgrade/versionupgrade-15.0.42.tgz
2) fwconsole ma upgradeall
3) fwconsole chown
4) fwconsole versionupgrade --check (if everything is OK then go to 5)
5) fwconsole versionupgrade --upgrade

If you have another instance with the error, please share it on our case Jeremy, so I can investigate

question: was the original V15 system using the ClearlyIP mirrors?

Yes, but before my upgrade attempts, I swap them to Sangoma mirrors and redownload the correct framework and UCP module before I do any attempts.

Yeah, I did the same and had what sounds like very similar issues.

in the end, I had to resort to installing 16 from scratch then restoring a backup from the prior 15 system. That’s when the DB errors started.

When I would attempt to save a template in EPM a db field unknown error would pop up but the template would be written (at least in the UI). The issue was it wasn’t writing the config files based on that template.

Once I got the proper fields added into the db and upgraded to the edge version of EPM the config files were written.

If you have that issue again, please let me know, or open a case and ask to be assigned to me, I would like to see what’s going on.

Thanks !

I am in the ending phase of making a snapshot. I will then email you all the pertinent information shortly

Do you have commercial modules? If so, is the support expired on any of them?

I have commercial modules and they all get updated to the newest versions before I try everything.

Its all set. Just sent you an email

So yes, they all have current support?

yes, which is why Sergio has been great to work with on this.

I did an update today and it worked. I did this:

I made sure everything was up to date. (ran fwconsole ma upgradeall and yum update
I disabled the firewall (I needed it off for Sergio, due to VPN not starting)
I also ran the following, which was run on another machine Sergio upgraded for me:
sysctl -w vm.drop_caches=3
We are also using versionupgrade-15.0.42

Doing these steps, I can successfully upgrade 15 to 16.

Thank you for your help Sergio
