Trouble using Sangoma 6 to 7 upgrade tool

Good catch. I switched to this one. It looks like people have had success using it with Centos

Thanks for all your help! I’ll report back once I get this installed.

Pretty good choice! Intel cards are usually well supported and usually give pretty good performance.

You are welcome!

Good luck and have a nice day!

Nick

I received the new network card today and installed it, but still no luck. I am getting the same output with ifconfig and ifup eth0.

I attempted to use a driver for the network card using the instructions and driver from this site, but I received an error doing step 4 at the “make install” point.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You need to install kernel-devel. Which will be quite hard without internet.

Is my best bet at this point to wipe the machine and start over with a fresh install of Free PBX 14? I have a backup of my Free PBX 13 config. Will that restore into Free PBX 14? Or should I just rebuild with a fresh install of Free PBX 13, restore my config, and attempt the upgrade to 14 from that point?

Hi!

Two questions…

Have you disabled the onboard one in the BIOS?

Second, I am not sure if this is present on our distro but does the following command starts anything?

 system-config-network

Good luck and have a nice day!

Nick

I have the onboard LAN disabled in BIOS

Output of system-config-network is below

Can you please show the contents of /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and if you issue a dmesg at the command line does it see your Intel network card?

You will have to pipe this into more because it is usually quite long…

Good luck and have a nice day!

Nick

I greatly appreciate your help with this!

OK, as I thought considering it’s an Intel card, your card drivers are already there.

It’s here in the dmesg output

Ok, can you please show me

/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules ?

If it looks like this:

# This file was automatically generated by the /lib/udev/write_net_rules
# program, run by the persistent-net-generator.rules rules file.
#
# You can modify it, as long as you keep each rule on a single
# line, and change only the value of the NAME= key.

# PCI device 0x11ab:0x4380 (sky2)
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="80:ae:73:35:da:44", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0"

except for the ATTR(address) of course which is the MAC address and the PCI device information and driver, replace what is between quotes by 68:05:ca:2d:b6:e6 (your Intel card MAC address).

Reboot the PC…

Please let me know how this turns out…

Good luck and have a nice day!

Nick

That fixed it! I now have a connection! I owe you a ton, Nick! Thanks so much for your help!

The system is now updating. I’ll report back once it’s done, or if I have any more issues.

Welp, on to my next issues.

It seems like it tries to update but it errors out it will then give me a line that says

Your transaction was saved, rerun it with:
yum load-transaction /tmp/yum_save_tx.2017-10-18.11-82.WigpWK.yumtx

If I run that command I get this:

[root@localhost ~]# yum load-transaction /tmp/yum_save_tx.2017-10-18.11-02.WigpWK.yumtx

This message will continue indefinitely, but usually with a different PID. I’ve let it sit for 3 hours, thinking it was just updating, but then I get the same error again.

I have also gotten to this screen using the yum load-transaction command:

I am definitely getting farther and farther from my comfort zone and I kinda wished someone that has a better idea how this works would step in to help because I am getting somewhat afraid to break things even more for you.

However, if you are willing to try something I would try this:

yum remove python-iwlib preupgrade-assistant

and then reboot to see if things would process further…

As always, should you be caught or killed, I will disavow any knowledge of your actions…

(If you don’t know what this is about google the whole line…)

Good luck and have a nice day!

Nick

PS: By the way, I am pretty sure that your FreePBX will need to be reactivated with that network card change (but I could be wrong…).

Thanks Nick. I ran the command and rebooted. It says it is "upgrading to Asterisk 13 (this may take some time) - Why does it say “asterisk 13”?

I’m not opposed to rebuilding the whole thing if it breaks. I have a back-up I can restore to a new build if needed.

Quick question, assuming I need to rebuild, would I be best off using the ISO for SNG7-FPBX-64bit-1707-1 on this page and installing as FreePBX 13 so I can restore from my backup? That way I should have Centos 7, making it easier to upgrade to FreePBX 14, correct? Or will my backup not restore to that?

Thanks again for the help, I’m out of town tomorrow so I may be slow to reply and won’t be able to work on it. I’m going to let it sit for now and see if the update took when I get back Friday.

Hopefully a typo… :worried:

Understood…

You need to reinstall 10.13.66-64bit to restore your backup as SNG7-FPBX-64bit-1707-1 is FreePBX 14 only… You can use it with Asterisk 13 but it’s the version of FreePBX that matters for backups…

IIRC from one of the blog posts it is FreePBX 15 and above that will be able to restore FreePBX 14 and above (but surely less than or equal to the version restored on), until then the FreePBX version needs to match…

Good luck and have a nice day!

Nick

Thanks Nick. I think we have made progress. I now just get this error.

Try

yum remove ql2400-firmware ql2500-firmware

That’s weird, I thought those were supposed to be removed with the script you are using…

Good luck and have a nice day!
