SIP Extensions loose connection and Freepbx Admin Freezes

We currently run Freepbx, however now and then the extensions loose connection to the server (i.e NR on the phone) and the Freepbx web console is nearly impossible to log into.

If i leave it for about 10 minutes it manages to come right.
During this time I can ping the server with no packet loss.

Could somebody advise with regards to why this happens and how we can fix it?

How about a little info on your system. What version of FreePBX and Asterisk? How was it installed, distro or build by hand. Is it FreePBX or Elastic or haven forbid trixbox? Is this a physical server or a virtual server. Did this just start happening? Has anything changed?

FreePBX 2.4.1.9
Asterisk 1.4.42
CentOS release 5.8 (Final)(86x)

It was installed on a physical server via an ISO disk provided to us.

This has been happening for a few months now, and it happens at random times.
Basic changes are made such as new extensions or modifications to extensions.

That’s quite an old system. It certainly is viable.

You need to check the Asterisk CLI or log when it is misbehaving and see what is up. Perhaps Asterisk is restarting. What is the uptime after one of these events on Asterisk?
