Sangoma 7 security patches support

Hi ,

We have a sangoma 7 installation which looks to be based on Centos 7. However Centos 7 it’s support has stopped in June 2024?
Is support of security patches still supported for Sangoma 7? Or should we move to Rocky?

Looking forward to someones expertise.

FreePBX v17 is Debian based. Moving to Rocky will remove any support for the OS, commercial modules, etc.

That is an encrible fast answer, thanks.

But now it is Sangoma 7 which is based on Centos 7 as I am correct. What do you suggest while keeping the existing installation?

Nothing. You can’t get OS level support for SNG7 since it’s CentOS 7 based. This means that versions v16 and lower are no longer getting security updates at the OS level.

This is a transitional period right now. Outside of FreePBX v17, all the other releases are running out EOL versions of the OS and software (PHP, Apache, etc). Can’t really offer security updates to these things unless they are all forked and managed by Sangoma, which isn’t going to happen.

Is there a complete ISO image availble for debian?

Not yet, the current method is to install Debian 12 then download and run the installation script here

Isn’t it better and more flixble to run in a docker container?

This was never designed to be in containers. Can it be done? Yes. Is it officially supported, no.

Ok clear. So the only option for now is install a fresh debian version and then install freepbx with the given scripts.
Are there things needs extra attention in this?
