Ring ring, beep beep beep, call drop… (FreePBX 17 Follow Me to mobile rings but disconnects when answered)

Hi all,

I’m running FreePBX 17 with PJSIP trunks and extensions.

I’ve configured Follow Me on an extension to forward to a mobile number. The behavior is as follows:

• The mobile phone rings normally

• As soon as I answer the mobile call

• The call immediately drops

What I already checked:

• Confirm Calls = No

• Using PJSIP

• Direct Media is disabled

• RTP symmetric and rewrite contact are enabled

• Ring time increased

• Direct outbound call from PBX to the same mobile number works perfectly (no drop)

So the issue only happens when the call is triggered via Follow Me.

It feels like the second leg is being terminated immediately after answer.

Questions:

• Has anyone seen this behavior in FreePBX 17?

• Is this related to how Follow Me handles the second call leg?

• Could this be a provider issue with re-INVITE / call bridging?

• Is there a known change in Asterisk 20+ behavior that affects Follow Me?

If needed I can provide SIP logs, just let me know what would be most useful.

Direct outbound call from PBX to the same mobile number works perfectly (no drop)

Then provide logs (pjsip set logger on) of the SIP in the working and non-working cases. As a bonus, compare them yourself, and indicate any apparent differences.
