Recording voice

I own a restaurant and want to record incoming Take-Out order calls for coaching purposes. Is FreePBX a tool that could do this? I don’t want to replace my traditional (BellSouth) phone service I just want to record each inbound call.

I am no expert! Infact I can’t get my FREEPBX running right now. I used Asterisk@Home a year ago. Yes, you can record calls, and even have the recorded calls sent to you in e-mail, but it is quite an undertaking if you are not going to use it for your phone system. I believe it would do the task so it is worth investigating further.

If you don’t mind putting the FreePBX box inbetween the phone line and the phone (using SPA-3000 or TDM400P), then it’s as easy as setting the record always option on the extension.

If you want to record all calls with a parallel device (not rewire anything), then use a telephone recording device such as one from Hello Direct or even just a computer with a sound recording program and a phone line recording adapter from radio shack.
