PRI Vega gateway - failover solution

Hello,

We have a Vega gateway 200G that we have used for for connecting Freepbx to PRI trunks. It’s been running fine for more than 3 years now.

I am wondering if I need to have a failover solution for this.

• How long do these gateways typically last?
• What are my failover options?
• What upgrades or maintenance is typically needed for these gateways?

What are my failover options?

Buy a second one and set it up with a backup of the current configuration.

Whenever you change a setting on the current one, make backup and update the second unit.

At least once a year, actually swap the second unit in and test that your failover plan actually works.
