Prevent Debian 12 upgrade to 13, am I doing it correct?

Hi guys,

I’m new to FreePBX 17. Installed no problem, can make test calls. I’ve found an article on this forum that it may upgrade itself to Debian 13 using update/upgrade commands.

AI says this command needs to be run to prevent destructive self-upgrade to 13:

fwconsole sa disable-deb-update-v13

fwconsole chown

fwconsole reload

Is it enough?

TIA!

If you’re new to FreePBX, you should be ok anyway. The fix was applied a while ago.

If you’re unsure, run apt update and don’t proceed if you see any references to Trixie.

I wrote a guide here, but as I say, it’s a little dated now and probably doesn’t apply to you:

Not new to FreePBX, but new to 17. The version I have is 17.0.33- vanilla OS and 1 commercial module. Does your post mean that they fixed unwanted update a while ago? Or you still advise to run your work around? Thanks.

grep -hE '^\s*deb ' /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/* 2>/dev/null | grep -v '^#'
echo '---'
apt-cache policy libc6
  • Every deb line says bookworm (or bookworm-security / bookworm-updates).
  • No line says trixie or stable.
  • libc6 Candidate is 2.36-…+deb12u… (Debian 12).

:no_entry: Stop and do not run apt upgrade / apt full-upgrade if you see trixie, stable, or a libc6 candidate starting 2.41 / deb13.
