Polycom Endpoint Manager

I want to start off by saying I’m a noob to linux so I don’t know where to look for a lot of things…

I’m setting up a new system, and I started with the ‘latest Trixbox’ as my base. I’ve since upgraded the FreePBX 2.9. I think I’ve got everything setup right, and had no problems setting up a Cisco 7940 and a Grandstream 2020. I’ve since gotten 3 Polycom 650’s and I can’t get it working at all.

What I’ve done:

Installed FreePBX current endpoint manager.
downloaded the latest firmware and bootrom from Polycom’s site and unziped
it to TFTP folder
Downloaded Polycom package and enabled SoundPoint 650
Setup extension in cfg mgr.
Hard reset Polycom reboot and set server type to TFTP.

Now the firmware downloads and installs, but it keeps rebooting. The only logs I know to look at are atftpd.log and mac-boot.log. Only problem I see is TFTP says connection refused.

trixbox is not FreePBX, it uses a hacked up, unsupported ancient version of FreePBX. The trixbox project is dead.

You need to start with a supported system. You can use our distro, it is a very stable CentOS with the latest FreePBX and Asterisk.

Ok, I thought that if I just upgraded the FreePBX within Trixbox it would work. I didn’t realize that the distro also installed CentOS and Asterisk. I’ll get on that now.

Just one more thing, is there anyway to download the full image prior to the setup process? The system I’m installing it on has an Atheros L2 NIC and CentOS doesn’t automatically install the driver. So I have to install the driver manually.

I actually am not even sure how you updated your FreePBX from within trixbox. You would have to download the tarball, hack the version numbers and install by hand. trixbox has their own repos.

To answer your question our system is a net install, sorry about that.

Perhaps you could install a NIC just for the installation?

I did download and install the tarball after I found an old post on the tb forum. It looked like it worked once I removed the tb endpoint manager conflict.

I did just install using an old nic and got it all setup. At first, I ran into the same problem with the sip/bootrom I downloaded from polycom. Then like a bonehead, I realized that there was an install firmware button in the endpoint manager. So I removed the polycom stuff I downloaded and used the ones that came in FreePBX and boom, it worked. Funny thing is there was no sip.ld files from the FreePBX download, just the bootrom files. Not sure why the ones from Polycom didn’t work, maybe I must be missing a setting in there?

On a side note, do you know if there’s a way to create a soft key that initiates an intercom call (*80)?

THe new firmware you downloaded from the Polycom website gets easily confused with older configuration files that trixbox deploys
