Outgoing calls and getting "The number is not answering" message

I thought I did explain what I had done with the NAT. I have taken it off just the phone, then I just took it off then extension setup and finally I took it off both.

I was reading some other post on another community, and it said something about routing. I am in the middle of that. This is what is funny, I have it so the phone is making a ringing sound, but the number I called is not ringing, then I get the message “the calling party is not answering”

What is different I never got a ringing sound on the phone. Going to give up here, I am in WV and on the same time zone as you and getting late.

Thanks. and I would never call you a ass, and I am getting to understand you. You are just trying to get answers, and I am really trying to give them to you, but somewhere we have a small communication problem.

Yeah, I am a night owl.

At this point I don’t have any more answers with more data.

My offer to take a look at the system for you is still open.

You are fairly close (relatively). We have a large client in Beckley.

dainielbo, I just think that you are clearly out of your depth (… .then set it to no-rc (something). . . seems a little ADD to me) and certainly not listening, the problem you have is purely between Asterisk and Vonage (I concur with Scott, they are certainly not your cheapest solution) Stop changing your endpoints, you have a network problem, I would suggest you:-

sip set debug ip sphone.vopr.vonage.net

but I feel that would only perplex and confuse you more, You could try

http://letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=vonage+asterisk

but I suggest you take up Skyking’s offer it will save you having to read anything.

(see we are all sarcastic around here  )

You have a long way to go. If you think you can just get thing up and running and then you’re done, you may be largely correct. But there are a great many of things you need to know. It sounds like you have figured out a bunch – bravo. But I would listen very closely to what dicko is telling you to do, which is read some things. You don’t have to read everything right away, but this issue with your Outbound Route, it is probably very straight forward, and I think you are missing something obvious. It’s up to you to figure it out now. You’ve been given everything but free call-in support. I learned a lot at first by using the Elastix technical customer support. They were only $69/hr. But their product was different and they had a different business model. When you use the FreePBX technical support you are speaking right to the guys that write and administrate this program. They will be very quick, and if you ask them questions and are prepared by knowing VI or some other editor, you will learn and get getter. Best wishes. It think you’re almost there. Spend $129 to talk to the FreePBX team and quit whining. I learned/earned my sarcasm from someone herein.

I would like to say thank you to SkykingOH, Franklin and Dicko. I am going to spend some time reading some more. But also going to have to hold off for a few days. We have been helping an elderly woman move into a apartment. She had lost her home, do to a fire, and under insured. So been working there all day today, and now is time to just lay back and relax.

Thank you SkykingOH, and I might take you up on that, but I still want to try, and hope to figure it out my self. I want to go back and look at all my setups. Thanks again guys, and if I dont get it, I will be picking your brains again in a few days.

Hope all a great days ahead.

I can assure you that each one of the above will gladly help you if you need it more (I know them all, but they are all a$#holes  ).

Good luck and rest well, we have your back.

I think you are full of shite, dicko. Full of nice shite.

I think I am learning how you guys are. I just didn’t understand. I am going to back off for a while, because getting back up on other things.

I have read so much lately, I have read where people say it will not work, and I have read where they say it will work. All of the suggestions of what they say will work, I have tried. I am getting the ringing tones now, but the phone I am calling is not ringing.

I would be great if you would want to look at what I have SkykingOH, I am not sure on how you would do this, but what ever you need I am will to give you.

I am also open to another company to hook up with beside Vonage. If I had some ideas, I would love to see what you all think, would be a good switch for me.

Thanks guys, I will do want to get this set up, it will be so much better then what we are using and that is 3cx, the free version, that doesn’t have paging feature.

I am going to keep the server up, but just work on it vary little right now. We had a bad storm on June 29, Skyking probably had the same. So we have many missed place people that really needs my help for now. I had set it off to the side way to much lately, just to get this going. Thanks guys for all you help and understanding.

I hope you all will forgive me for saying the things that I have said, I do think you guys are a great group.
Hope you are having a great day,
Daniel bo

www.securecloudsolutions.com and they will set it up for you for free.

Daniel,

Yes we had a very busy week helping customers get restored kept us busy. Our data centers had no downtime, Hugo kudos to Aegis and Equinix.

As far as your clients I truly hope you just typed wrong and did not miss place any people, what I think you meant is assisting displaced families.

As far as getting into your system we would do a join.me to your desktop. I can do it tomorrow night probably.

Ha Ha, Yep that was a good one skyking, Yep, I to hope they are just displaced and not missed place. I know I am loosing my mind over this phone, I would hate to loose my clients too. I have been working on grants all day today, but I did take a little bit of time out to read about this phone. I think I have it the end of the internet on how to hook Vonage to FreePBX.

It is so funny that everything is working great, calls are coming in, IVR is working, and we even tried the fax today and worked great, where 3CX didnt. That of course is just incoming fax. I can make a out going call, hear it ringing on my end, but not doing anything on the other end.

I have read in a few articles that people say it was working on day and then the next day it stopped. But why would it work with 3CX and not FreePBX?

Thanks you for you offer, of hooking into my system and checking it out. I hope you wouldnt mind if we maybe try something next week or so. Next week is Thanksgiving week, and we would like to get as much done around here for that, and Christmas. I love smiles.

There would be one hell of a one if I could hear this dam phone ring in two places at the same time. Just believe its Vonage. But we have been with them for about along time, and the service is great.

Thanks guys. Hope to talk with you guys before the holidays, but if not I wish you all the best one ever. Thanks

Buy a Trunk from the good guys here at FreePBX – https://store.freepbx.com/store/

Thanks Franklin, I was thinking about doing this, it sounds like a great deal.

Maybe my problem is the outgoing dialing rules. Do you have to have a rule? I know that was one of my problem when I started 3CX,was that I had to create one.

First of all do I have to have rules?

Second, I am confused with prepend and prefix.
Lets say we want to be able to call area code 304 and 740 only, the to make a outgoing call I want to use a 9.

I was thinking the prepend would be 9, and the prefixe would be 304 then in the
match pattern would be NXXNXXXX

Then create another one for 740 since that would be Long distance. The prepend would be 9 the prefix would be 1740 and the match pattern would be NXXNXXXX

But I keep getting a error message saying “The out bound dial prefix contains non-standard characters. If the are intentional press ok”

Any Ideas, am I doing it right? Maybe this is my problem.

These are not words that are unique to telephone, to prepend is to put in front of.

So putting a 9 in prepend would add a 9 if the match pattern matched.

The prefix is matched and stripped.

So assuming vonage wants straight 10 digit all the time simply do a 9 prefix the NXXXXXXXXX in match pattern and the trunk in the outbound routes.

Send us a log output from when you try and dial.

You do know that almost every field has a tooltip if you hover your mouse over the field description it will display what the field does and examples.

The system has to find a match in your Outbound Route before it will dial out that route and use the Trunk assigned.

Just get an Outbound Route working and then mess around with prepend and other things. Keep it simple to get up and running and then document how you have it set for the working system. Maybe even, dare I say, take a backup of that system.

The other question I have is looking at the log file, why does it say “SIP/400-00000002” This is not the number I dialed. I dialed 304485XXXX. I also wonder about the registration "[email protected]" that is no where near the number of the registration. Way to many numbers before the @sphone.
I am getting dead air and if I stay on the phone I get the message “calling number is not answering”

I know I do not know what I am talking about, but after looking at each line, it just looks like I might have a real mess. I cant make heads or tails out of any of this.

Don’t worry about all of that, it’s an MD5 encrypted hash. Here is all that matters:

The system dialed the number below on sip trunk vonage3:

SIP/Vonage3/9304485XXXX

Then the vonage trunk didn’t respond with 30 seconds:

Also I am sure that your terminology “call is unanswered” is wrong as that is not the Asterisk message.

“The number is not answering” That is the recording that I get.

So really would you say that Vonage will not work?

And what is all of this "[email protected]" would you know? The registration that should be sent is only about a fourth of all those number and alpha in front of the @ sign. Could this be anything?

I am leaving to help some people out, and will be back around 9:30 or so, I hope.

Thanks SkykingOH for taking you time to look at this. I really appreciate it more then you would believe.

I have no experience with Vonage so I can’t comment on if it works or not. To some extent, SIP is SIP.

I wasn’t real clear, the long HEX string in front of the URL is a MD5 hashed version of your credentials.

No I am sorry, but I will do that today. Do I run this in Astricks? I am unsure on why I never did, and sorry. I have been trying to do everything that is suggested because I am so determined to get this working. I would be so great. Thank you
