Is it ok to just tell it OK?

Thanks,
James

Yes it’s probably fine and completed.

I did press OK. Then checked System Updates and the status is “In Progress” so it is still running in the background.

If it doesn’t finish by tomorrow I’ll report back. I have two systems doing this, one is a Sangoma device and another that has been running for years…

Having the same issue, with two fresh Distro installs. Thought it was a server issue, spun up new instance, same problem. Thought VPS hosts copy of distro was no good, so I downloaded the latest copy from freepbx.org. Same issue, ran yum from CLI and it shows nothing to be updated, rebooted server, and it wont boot.

Doing an update on the CLI, it takes forever once it displays kmod-via-rhine

Part and parcel of kernel updates.

I just rebooted the server, there’s now two kernels, newest one wont boot. Reboot, choose second kernel and it boots fine, and seems to be up to date.

@Adamsffi not sure if your system is production or not.

I just reinstalled from the distro, and before I did anything else, I ran yum upgrade and it worked this time around, I am in the middle of finishing configs and module updates. Hopefully, this doesn’t continue.

There will be another kernel coming out shortly. You can already get it through installing ‘sangoma-devel’

What is your suggestion for systems that ran the update and now the GUI shows in progress for 8 hr.

I ran [root@Nimbus ~]# /usr/sbin/sysadmin_update_system --unlock
Error: Sysadmin updater not installed!

[root@Nimbus ~]# yum-complete-transaction
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, versionlock

There are 1 outstanding transactions to complete. Finishing the most recent one
The remaining transaction had 0 elements left to run
Nothing in the unfinished transaction to cleanup.
Cleaning up completed transaction file
[root@Nimbus ~]# ^C
[root@Nimbus ~]# yum-complete-transaction --cleanup-only

No unfinished transactions left.

But still the update shows in progress.

FreePBX 14 systems and higher do not use /usr/sbin/sysadmin_update_system so dont run that

If the GUI shows progress but a yum upgrade says everything is done then the GUI is wrong

The GUI will break with these upgrades during upgrade because it upgrades httpd and so the connection is lost.

Either reboot the machine or run service httpd restart and you’ll be able to get back into the GUI

Exact same problem here - just sits there after the icron cleanup - banging on about how it’s still alive (5 hours so far!) Meanwhile my system firewall is disabled… any way to close or cancel the update process?

Go to the CLI and see if yum is still running. Is it?

what’s the command to check? I tried yum update and it says no packages marked for update…

If you ran yum update and it did not have an issue with locking then the updates are complete. You can reboot or run service httpd restart. But its always best to reboot to make sure the kernel works. If it doesnt work you have the option to use the last 6ish kernels.

OK thanks - I’ll try that now. Been on this server all day - having rebuilt it from distro and restored from backup during the first half of the day. I’ll let you know what happens. Thanks again.

Hmm. Did httpd restart and it’s still sitting there banging on about how it’s still alive. I wish it wasn’t…! I’m remote SSH onto it at the moment so didn’t want to do a reboot without being there.

just refresh the page. Stop waiting for it.

OK. Now the “Refresh Page” button keeps flashing “Loading…” then “Refresh Page”

Tim,

Just ignore the page. You are already updated
