We’ve been trying to migrate from Freepbx 15 to 17. One hurdle we have run into is Visual Voicemail not working on Digium D40 or D60 Phones. These are the primary phones we use at our company so we would like to work this out before we fully migrate versions.
The error below is what is displayed when opening the visual voicemail app on the phone:
The phones configuration is missing some information needed for visual voicemail (account_id,username,password/auth_token,appserver)
For context: On Freepbx 15 we were using the standalone Digium app without the endpoint manager. With the migration to 17 we are now trying to setup the phones in endpoint manager. Most of the DPMA settings are the same, but we aren’t sure why the phones aren’t getting the information needed for Visual Voicemail to work.
If anyone has any ideas we would appreciate any help we can get.
We are going through a VERY similar migration to you guys. Went from 15 with digium phones module to 17 and endpoint manager. We have some D40, D60s and smattering of other phones. Here are a few things to check / thoughts on this.
Are you upgrading your phones firmware as part of this migration? Ours were several version back, so we did the latest firmware updates right out of the gate
Is visual voice mail the only “phone app” having problems? i.e. is the “status” working to change your presence to DND, etc.?
However these phones are connecting, are ports 84 and 82 open to them from the server to the phone? you can see those ports in the endpoints manager “global settings”
Inside “User Manager”, do you have them in the default “group” or did you create your own? I learned the hard way if you create your own new group and move phones into it, it has “Phone Apps” disabled by default.(in user manager go to “groups”, click on a group to “edit”, then “phone apps” tab.)
Marked your comment as the solution. We use AD to populate our users so I didn’t think to check groups. When changing the phone apps and voicemail access options for the group of our test user, all the phone apps are now working as expected. Thanks a lot, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one going through this migration.
