Maximum Channels in Trunk Setting

I have a SIP trunk service with 10 channels, which i’m assuming means I can have a maximum of 10 simultanous external calls regardless of inbound or outbound. Is that correct? Do i set the Maximum Channels setting in the sip trunk to 10 or should I leave it blank? If I leave it blank, i’m assuming the SIP service provider will do the limiting automatically anyway?
