This is my first Asterisk/Freepbx installation. I am using the VOIP-info.org installation instructions to install Freepbx-2.3.1 and Asterisk 1.4.4 on Ubuntu 6.06 os.
After much work I got ./install_amp to work.
Now I get the error " FATAL: can not find freepbx_engine to start Asterisk".
I also get the error :
Forbidden

I have checked the web and this site for information on how to resolve this issue but with no success.
Does anyone have any idea what this issue can be?
What other information do you need from me. I have reviewed several log files but now have provided any clues.
I have attempted to re-install AMP. At the end of the installation it produces the following errors:
Can this be the source of the issue with the freepbx_engine not loading?
Anyhelp ot ideas would be welcomed.

looks like you have an error in your amportal.conf configuration. It appears you have AMPBIN set to /var/local/sbin. The ‘typical’ value for this is ‘/var/lib/asterisk/bin’ which is usually owned by asterisk. So it may be possible that you got the files installed there but apache, which should be running as asterisk, can’t access them.
Phillippe, that was it . When I changed the AMPBIN from /var/local/bin to var/lib/asterisk/bin Freepbx fired right up. Thanks for the help, this saved me a lot of time.
