Install Fail2Ban on an ubuntu 20.04 custom install

Apparently, if you are not using one of the official distros, there is no option for a firewall. And that’s okay I hope I can install my own fail2ban.

Are there any recipe instructions on how to do it? ubuntu 20.04 with Asterisk and Freepbx. Would like to ban those who use brute force to repeatedly try to access the server.

Get 0.10 from

https://www.fail2ban.org/wiki/index.php/Downloads

and follow the rules to install and configure, there are sufficient rules for Asterisk, use the other jails as appropriate.

If you are that sorta unit GitHub - fail2ban/fail2ban: Daemon to ban hosts that cause multiple authentication errors for 0.11 is a better place to start (No recipes)

For A firewall , I use

https://www.configserver.com/cp/csf.html

When using Fail2ban with other iptables firewall, the resulting rules order order is important, use csfpost.sh to start Fail2ban after CSF starts and csfpre.sh to stop it, if it running, before starting CSF

I will add that if you are not using UDP/5060 , they will both be as busy as the Maytag repairman.
