I have several Asterisk based systems, FreePBX and PBXact that are starting to report the same thing. The caller does not hear the ringing sound while the phones are ringing. These are systems that have been in place for a couple of years and working fine. The “Default MOH” settings in the ring groups are set to “Ring” and have been since the beginning. I see a few others reporting the same thing but no real solution yet. Any ideas?
Let me guess - you recently upgraded the system as part of your normal maintenance?
There was a problem (that should now be fixed) that almost exactly matches your report.
We experienced that with calls going to Ring Groups. the work around was setting progressinband=yes in Asterisk sip settings.
The fix is to ensure you have upgraded Ring Groups to current, and to set the ‘Send Progress’ parameter in the Ring Group configuration.
