How to Upgrade TrixBox 2.6.1.2 to use FreePBX 2.5.x

I followed the instructions to install the FreePBX Upgrade Module. The process fails when trying to install the module uploaded to TrixBox. It says that it will only work with versions prior to 2.5.0 alpha.

Any suggestions as to what to do. I want the latest FreePBX functionality but there is no FreePBX Framework module to upgrade on the Module Admin Page.

Look for a thread “trixbox forks FreePBX” and in that there may be some instructions for you.

Thanks but the instructions I followed are from the FreePBX site Updates section.

Yes, except that trixbox uses a “fork” of FreePBX and if you want “current” or for that matter “real” FreePBX you need to change the location of the module repository.

Those are the directions you should be looking for.

The FreePBX updater 2.5 is supposed to achieve that, The FreePBX site says to download it to a PC, then use the UPLOAD feature in module administration and install it. Then you are supposed to update all modules after that is done. Unfortunately, the 2.5 FreePX updater module does not work with the 2.6.2.1 ISO of Trixbox.

I fear I will have to start all over and re-enter all the extension informaiton, trunks, etc.

Honestly, I stopped using trixbox for just this reason. Keep searching… Somewhere there are instructions to have the repository pointing sorted. I can’t recall them at the moment. I usually try to start from a known point i.e. :

cd /usr/src/
wget http://mirror.freepbx.org/freepbx-2.5.1.tar.gz
tar zxvf freepbx-2.5.1.tar.gz
cd freepbx-2.5.1
./start_asterisk start # for upgrades use: amportal start
./install_amp

This of course may do in something in trixbox too.

What do you use instead of TRixbox?

I use PBX in a Flash http://pbxinaflash.com/
There is also AsteriskNOW 1.5 Beta over at http://www.asterisknow.com/downloads
