Help with BABYTEL

I’m new to FreePBX

Fairly comfortable with ASTERISK.

So I have one DIGIUM phone.
I configured an extension.
I could “login” the digium phone with this extension.

Then I tried to configure the BabyTel TRUNK.
I tested the “config” with X-LITE, I can make and receive calls.

For the TRUNK config in FreePBX I used this:
http://ca.babytel.net/wp-content/manuals/Asterisk_babyTEL_Configuration_Guide_(V1.2).pdf

Then, I configured and OUTBOUND route, which as EVERYTHING goes through the only existing TRUNK : Babytel.

Basic testing: I can’t make a call.

(and of course I completely rebooted the phone from factory default, and reconnected it, then even did a “reconfigure” from FreePBX, just to make sure that wasn’t the issue)

This is the most basic set up of all and I can’t make it work :frowning:

I’ve been checking everything around and I can’t find what I’ve done wrong.

Can someone help me troubleshoot this please?

Ok, you didn’t tell us what Asterisk and FreePBX you have, your trunk config, if the phone is registered, if you can make a test call to the Asterisk box (echo test or VM, talking clock etc).

Don’t have any idea what a “reconfigure” is from FreePBX.

Not sure what you want from us.

Sorry for that, I use
Asterisk 11
FreePBX 2.11
Digium Addons 2.10

My trunk config was taken from there : http://ca.babytel.net/wp-content/manuals/Asterisk_babyTEL_Configuration_Guide_(V1.2).pdf

From the home window of FreePBX, it looks like the line is registered (I see 1 active registration)

As of now I can’t make any call at all.

Full trunk config is here :

[babyTEL]
type=peer
disallow=all
allow=ulaw
canreinvite=no
context=from-trunk
dtmfmode=rfc2833
insecure=port,invite

fromdomain=sip.babytel.ca
host=sip.babytel.ca
outboundproxy=nat.babytel.ca
port=5065

User Details for inbound calls :
[15141231234]

allow=ulaw
context=from-trunk
dtmfmode=rfc2833
fromuser=15141231234
insecure=port,invite
type=user

Also, concerning the “reconfigure”, I have this tab called “Digium phones” and I can see registered phones and there’s a reconfigure button.

That must be in the Digium module. Don’t know anything about it.

Need some log, I would be looking at the phones dial plan.

I’m a newb BabyTel/FreePBX user myself, and had a difficult time getting outgoing up and running as this was my first ever Asterisk install, but I created an account and this is my first post to try and help as mine works perfectly now.

I cannot comment on your IP phone, but my trunk settings had to be different to get my install working, specifically I had to use IP addresses instead of DNS names, including in the Register String, only after that did calling out start to work.

So:

fromdomain=204.101.5.20
host=204.101.5.20
outboundproxy=204.101.5.67:5065

(no need for the port= line with outboundproxy set all on one line as above)

Also in the FreePBX GUI my Register String looks very different than yours, my format ended up working like this:

[email protected]:sippassword:[email protected]:5065/15141231234

Let me know if this gets it working for you.

FreePBX 3.211.63-8
Asterisk 10.12.1

Hi guys,

I don’t know what happened, I can’t explain it…

I didn’t touch the set-up, rebooted the server, and now everything works…

So the trunk config I posted is exactly what I have configured and it works now.
