New FreePBX 17 implementation. Looking to switch my trunks from UDP to TLS. Switching at the voip.ms end looks easy - change a NO to a YES in the Account and Subaccount. However, all the docs at voip.ms refer to earlier FreePBX versions, where there are configuration files instead of the GUI.
I’m looking for a cookbook / guide / checklist, FreePBX 17 specific, along the likes of “do the following 17 things in this order and then your trunks will be running TCP/TLS instead of UDP.”
The phones are all onsite on a 1Gbps network so that encryption is less critical for me - they are Sangoma P320 and P320 phones - but if they come along for the ride then that’s certainly fine.
Our Internet connection is terrible: slower ADSL, on old copper, and the last-mile vendors don’t seem to be eager to upgrade the network in our area. I’m working separately on that, including looking at 60GHz radio, and cellular. The root symptom is a garbled start (3-5 seconds) on all inbound calls, outbound are not an issue. Among the many suggestions, moving to an encrypted connection (and away from UDP) was suggested. I’m also going to evaluate jitter, switch from three CODECs to one (G.722) to simplify negotiation, make sure the router doesn’t have SIP ALG or SPI enabled, and so forth. Bell is also bringing a new ADSL modem tomorrow, much newer (and hopefully better firmware) than the old one - for all I know the old modem might be doing more than just being a bridge and we don’t know how it is configured.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you have, or a pointer to somewhere where this is all documented.
