FreePBX 17 Device and User Mode Bug And How to Get Around It

Long time listener first time caller here… So I Installed Freepbx17 on the latest Debian using the manual method, no funny business with the ISO (beta), After loggin in I turned on ‘Device and User’ mode from the advanced settings as this is how we have used freepbx for over a decade now, we also use Yealink T46G and Yealink T46S phones, the bug comes in with BLF and their respective hints. if you use adhoc mode so users can log into phones but then assign them a default phone you MUST CREATE THE USER FIRST, if you create a device first then a user and go tie the user to the device it will not create the hint or state and you can monitor this in the asterisk info menu under subscriptions → subscribe notify section as it lists all hints. Now to fix the BLF issue you can set the Device to ‘FIXED’ and then back to adhoc and it will fix it just as this option implies (that was a joke), but it does in fact create the hint and allow your phones to happily subscribe. There is another issue I have not figured out yet but if you import the configuration from a previous build it just simply breaks the whole system and it will not even create hints for new devices/users. Work in progress trying to figure out where I need to stick some ascii characters to make this work again for now I will probably just have to rebuild the whole damn thing without importing…
