FPBX 15 > 17 migration testing

Hi there,
What would be the best way to test Freepbx17 after we have restored the config from 15. Would we change DHCP settings to point to the new fpbx17 server? We have an active environment with over 90 extensions/phones so we need to make sure the testing/transition does not impact daily operations.

Many folks, myself included, recommend static network assignment for servers.

I think he means DHCP options for the phones to point to the new provisioning information for the new server.

OP, not sure that anyone will be able to give you specific information for your environment but the general idea is to plan things out properly before you pull the trigger and give yourself enough of a down time window to test everything properly.

Map out all the things that your old server is doing on the network and all the processes that are in place currently and make changes accordingly. The “simplest” thing you could do is unplug your old phone system, assign the same IP to the new system and see what breaks.

The downside of this would be that you won’t know if something is broken until somebody complains about it, so mapping out how things are setup currently and then testing it all would minimize any major issues once you do pull the trigger to get everything moved over.
